Exploring Stephanie Meyer
As I was surfing on the computer for Twilight stuff, I came across Stephanie Meyer’s web page. It’s full of her explanations with the Twilight Saga. As I was looking around the site, I learned a lot. She really gets into her characters. She lets them be them. She says she can’t control them, she has to let them be the strong “defined characters” that they are. I wish I could get that into my writing, create something that powerful to the point where it takes over. On Meyer’s website, for each book in the saga…(what is a “saga” looking that up right now…saga: noun, a narrative telling the adventures of a hero or a family….) ok so for each book in the series, the website has it’s own play lists of songs that have been connected with them. I think that’s really interesting that there has been music chosen for each book already. I like how people can connect the literature to music, reminds me of musicals. Ok I actually really like Meyer. Reading her explications of her writing is just so fun! I wanted to know HOW she came up with the plot, characters, etc. and what drove her to write about a vampire that everyone I know is obsessed with. This one article I read explained it all. Meyer explained the whole root and core of Twilight and how the whole series got started. Reading her explication made me laugh, smile, and think. I thought about how fun it would be to write for a living and loving it. I have so much respect for Meyer, it has opened so many new thoughts for me!
