Twilight Obsession
Have you ever read a book and thought you were watching a movie? I’ve just started to read Twilight by Stephenie Meyer and I feel like this book is reality. Meyer’s descriptive writing, tasteful transitions, and her thoughtful characterization keeps me reading at the edge of my seat. I absolutely love reading a book that I can’t put down; it’s makes reading so much more enjoyable. From the opening paragraph, to the page I’m on now, the writing never gets dull. Meyer knows how to paint a picture of the scene from the very get-go. I like knowing the setting from the start, so my imagination can go from there. The way she describes the littlest things make such a difference while reading. Instead of saying the car smelled old, Meyer describes the car, “the tan upholstered seats still smelled faintly of tobacco, gasoline, and peppermint.” (Meyer, 12). It tests your scents on all levels: you likely could see the car and smell it as your reading. Also, Meyer uses great hooks at the beginning of chapters. She opens chapter 2 with, “The next day was better…and worse.” (Meyer, 29). This made me eager to read, no wonder they call them “hooks” or “attention grabbers” because that’s exactly what they did. That is the kind of reading I love, descriptive, as if I’m right there witnessing it happen. I love a writing style that can keep me captivated. I really can’t get over how excited I’ve been to post about Twilight. Even though I’ve just started, it’s so hard for me to put it down, I can't wait to keep reading! In the posts to come, I hope I can inspire all of you to read Twilight and be as excited as I am!
